Who's a hungry birdie?

Birds that are sick and unable to eat by themselves often need to be fed a high energy diet to aid in getting them back on track to being healthy. We use something called a "crop needle" (no, it's not sharp!), which is a fancy feeding tube that we place into a birds crop (the starting point of their digestive tract). It is something that needs to be done carefully because if the tube is in the wrong place, it could be fatal! But don't worry, everything went very well in this case! :-)
