Flushing Those Deeply Dirty Ears

Dogs can suffer from chronic ear infections (otitis externa) and sometimes, if the infections are not responding to ear medication and cleaning which the owner does at home, then the affected ear needs to be flushed carefully with fluid while the dog is under general anaesthetic. This allows the vet to examine the ear drum and the canal carefully once it is clean and to ascertain if there are any underlying problems that may be preventing the ear infection from clearing up.
